Brothers and Sisters, 

We have a tough battle ahead of us.  This week, there is Right to Work legislation being heard in committee down in Olympia.  This type of legislation is produced to tear apart Labor and Unions--it hurts the working class, period.  Right to Work states that already exist have less pay, less benefits, more on the job injuries, and an overall lower quality of life.  We need to fight this legislation and we need all the help we can get so please join us when you can to rally and show our numbers so that our legislators get the message--"Right to Work is WRONG!".  Attacks on our pension are also emminent in this current political climate so please look for emails and/or texts for calls to action on this topic as well.  For some happier news, your Executive Board has unanimously endorsed two candidates for the Tacoma City Council.  For position #4 (East side of Tacoma), Catherine Ushka.  Catherine has earned our support previously for Tacoma School Board and looks forward to restoring public safety.  For position #5 (South End), Chris Beale.  Chris is a city planner for Puyallup, lives in 10's district, and has been active on the South End Neighborhood council.  We will have opportunities to help their campaigns in the coming months.
